SUMMARY

This year's Fossil ride took place Sunday, July 18 and actually never went to Fossil itself. Participants decided to modify the route by heading for Maupin (almost) as planned and then heading north to Shaniko and Grass Valley where the group dropped in on Oregon Raceway Park in Grass Valley. This is a brand new, custom built racetrack that offers organized motorcycle rider training and hosts private trackday events. From Grass Valley the ride headed back over to Tygh Valley via Sherar's Bridge and stopped to cool off in tiny Tygh Valley where a local gentleman entertained us with some rather unorthodox buggy driving outside the General Store. The White River Road that was called out at the western end as being closed was open after all and allowed the ride to get back to Hwy 35 and 26 through Government Camp to Zigzag and Welches where everyone gassed up for the last leg on the Barlow Trail Road back to Sandy or Corbett. Empty roads and sunshine - a combination you can't beat !
